The SMX Convention Center in Pasay City saw once more the coming together of top retail suppliers in a 2-day exhibit-and-conference in one. With local and foreign suppliers fulfilling needs in all areas of retail – such as in point-of-sale, signage, decoration and design, marketing and social media, and atmospheric areas – opportunities were rife at the 24th National Retail Conference and Expo, for both B2Bs and retail store owners.

The event, which ran from August 10 to 11, was graced by Presidential daughter and Mayor Sarah Duterte. Senator Sonny Angara was also in attendance as one of the keynote speakers, alongside Rustan Supercenters Inc CEO Mr Irwin Lee. Conference speakers throughout the 24th NRCE comprised of CEOs, Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors, and more top-level executives touching on future-proofing retail: retail’s newest and most innovative technology, best practices, shifts in trends and customer identity, and more.

Next door, actual exhibits of retail technology and solutions were showcased in stellar booth displays and impressive setups. Exhibitor AudioWAV Media Inc., sported a red-and-black booth setup, highlighting sleek proprietary machines such as the WAV Audio-Video System, the WAV Scent diffuser machine, and the WAV Sight digital signage player. Retailers in need of ways to get their customers to linger longer in their stores sought for their own ‘radio station’ of customized music and branded messaging inside their stores; retailers in need of more subtle but powerful branding looked for providers of signature fragrances that would ingrain their brand into their market’s mind; and retailers looking to beef up their displays needed dynamic LED screen displays that would ultimately reel customers in for a sale – all of these, WAV readily provided.

Elsewhere in the exhibit area, more informative talks were held at the PRA’s Retail Learning Lab – a modern classroom-type setup that aimed to house knowledgeable speakers talking about topics relating to improving the retail sphere. WAV’s own JJ Sison talked about Enhancing the Customer Experience with Atmospheric Branding, and was but one of the highly relevant topics discussed that garnered a Learning Lab full house.

Although the exhibit and conference was cut short, suffice to say that the entire event served to shake up the retail industry once more, preparing it and future-proofing it, in only the best of ways.
